Join Yaya Erin Rivera Merriman of Active Culture Family and Bridge Temple at Elder Farm in Descanso, CA (San Diego County) for a year long plant spirit medicine apprenticeship and priestess path initiatory intensive in which we will gather monthly online as well as in person once per season to celebrate the 4 Cross Quarter Earth Celebrations and dive deeply into the mysteries of a path of service through devotion to nature and the feminine.

This program has been conceived as an intimate opportunity for a small group of devoted practitioners to support each other in making an evolutionary leap toward radical embodiment of truth and service to the sacred. Together we will embark on a healing journey through the chakras and the seasons with Sacred Plant Medicines and Goddesses from around the world as our teachers and guides. Our cross cultural curriculum aims to help us to identify the underlying commonalities of the path of the Priestess (servant of Nature/Goddess) and deepen our understanding of this archetypal configuration and role in the cosmic order as it has evolved throughout time. Our study aims to nurture an appreciation and respect for the beauty and variety found in different living traditions while assisting us in uncovering our own roots and our own most authentic pathway into the mystery.

Guiding Philosophies

We will begin by learning about Goddesses from around the world and selecting a patron Goddess to work with for the duration of the program. Each Yogini/Priestess/Green Witch will choose a place on the land to serve as personal sacred space where you can go to reset and integrate at any time throughout the training.

We will look deeply at the different roles we have played throughout time on our journey of exploring the archetype of the Yogini/Witch/Priestess/Other Non-Conforming Wisdom Keeper, including Priestess as:

• oracle/counselor/minister

•teacher/educator/record keeper

•farmer/space holder/container maker

•family manager/mother/nourisher

• divine concubine/courtesan/sacred whore

• liberator/destroyer (of illusions)/initiatrix

• medicine carrier/medicine woman/shapeshifter/healer

2. WE ARE READY TO commit to caring for our own BODIES in such a way that enables them TO truly BE A VESSEL FOR SPIRIT

Karma clearing, healing of family of origin wounds, upgrading our emotional processing tools for achieving emotional mastery, diet, use of sexual energy- these have all been important areas needing to be addressed if we truly desire to become a hospitable vessel for spirit to flow through and embody and share Magic in a very real way. In the Medicine Mandala Apprenticeship, we will study a variety of traditional practices and tools for preparing the body to recieve, contain, and responsibly share increasingly potent energies.

Apprentices will receive a thorough introduction or refresher course in the fundamentals of the Wise Woman Tradition of Herbal Medicine, including:

• The way of the kitchen witch

• Preventative medicine through working regularly with nourishing, toning herbs

• Botany, Plant Identification, Medicine Making, and Ethical Wildcrafting

•Inviting Plants into your rituals

•Multidimensional Partnership with Plants through Traditional Plant Spirit Medicine

• Healing through Green Magic

Each gathering will include a seasonally themed medicine ceremony . (Although we deeply honor all teacher plants, we have noticed that when we say "medicine" here on the west coast, many people assume we are speaking about Ayahuasca, which although beloved to us, is not aligned with our vision for sustainability, so will not be included in our training program. (Explore the curriculum for the individual training weekends here. ) We will journey together with the intentions of healing ourselves, our communities, and the planet, as well as celebrating and connecting deeply with the unique energies of the season, weaving in the specific teachings shared in classroom time, and in our monthly online workshops and creating opportunity to have first hand, embodied, personal experience of the effectiveness and distinct flavor of the plants, healing modalities, and Goddess energies we are studying each season.

• Daily Classroom Time with Erin Rivera Merriman and various guest teachers

• Lunar Rythms Sacred Dance Practice with Centehua Sage, with live musical medicine provided by Kerem Brule.

• 3 Meals per day of ancestral foods, nourishing herbal infusions, medicinal elixirs.

Click Here to view a sample menu.

• Seasonally themed ritual for personal and planetary healing

• Study of Elemental Magic and Goddess Worship traditions from around the world that strengthen the intuition and facilitate direct, unmediated access to the wisdom of the natural world and the heavenly host of benevolent beings that surround us and support us on our journey.

Goddess worship: the Medicine of Kundalini Shakti

Our bodies are becoming increasingly well tuned instruments and we are now picking up so very much more of what spirit is putting down. Things are getting juicy, the plant world and the earth are alive in a whole new way and we are feeling ourselves to be at one with that beauty and perfection. We are unlearning and remembering, regaining our capacities as wild natural phenomenon. The stage has been set. We will be engaging yoga for the vagina skills designed to help us bring more pleasure, energy and awareness (chi/life force/health) to our creative center. We will then begin through intention and study, to call in different Goddess energies by journeying together through several foundational Hindu & Tantric Texts which will begin to provide cultural context, vocabulary, and recognition of different Goddess energies that surround us and are capable of educating us as to how to live more sustainably, in greater harmony with the energies of the natural world and other beings that surround us

Module 8: February (In Person)

Birth Keeper Phoebe Velasquez shares her Bajo Ceremony to open and soften us into embodied presence. We will look at spiritist traditions and various approaches to connecting with and collaborating with nature spirits, with a focus on Forest Spirits of the Tantric Traditions. For this rich weekend of teaching we will be joined by expert guest facilitator Laura Amazzone. Our time together promises a rare and authentic experience of classical Tantra teachings from the Shakta, Kaula, and Sri Vidya lineages of Tantra into which Laura has been initiated that she has been studying, practicing and teaching for over 20 years.

Module 10: April (Online)

We will read and discuss our experiences with important and inspiring texts on the subject of plant spirit medicine, with an eye towards how this information interweaves with our deepening understanding of a growing taxonomy of Goddess energies to orchestrate our experience of reality and create our path.

Module 12: June (Online)

Integration of Light and Shadow

We will continue to integrate Andean Cosmology, work with our rattles and new skills for creating our own medicine songs, to be shared during our final in person weekends initiation ceremony, and begin a Reishi Sadhana that will serve as our entry into the subterranean realm of the Earth Goddess and the healing, integrating wonders of the Fungi Kingdom.

Module 13:  July (Online)

Sacred Contracts and Shadow Work

This module will provide a psychological framework for those who feel called to work with plant medicines to accompany others through journeys into the deeper realms of the psyche for healing of trauma.

Module 14: August (In Person)

Green Witch Initiation Weekend

We will be joined by Shamanic Therapist Shonagh Home for the unique opportunity to share community seasonal celebration with a powerful and experienced nature spirit oracle and medium. We will learn Celtic Mythology and dive into impactful personal teachings from Shonagh's path with the sacred mushroom. We will also have the opportunity to be witnessed by our sisters and the entirety of the natural world in our vows and commitments for those choosing to accept Green Witch Initiation. Our year long journey will end with a beautiful day of teachings on the Melissa Path, exploring the critical importance of these heavenly creatures, bee venom medicine, and how to learn more about walking a sacred path with these tiny yet mighty-wisdom-keepers.

*This program is designed as an incubator- a safer space for women who feel called to deepen their understanding of the subtle mysteries of feminine embodiment. We recognize that the path of service through devotion to Goddess/Nature is available to all regardless of gender, while also acknowledging that our personal experience, expertise, study, and mastery lies in the specific experience of how energy moves in a female body. We understand that gender identification can sometimes be a complex issue. If you for any reason feel called to participate, but have questions about whether or not this particular container is right for you, please don't hesitate to reach out so that we can have a conversation about your interest in the program and see if it is a good fit!

This Outline is subject to change based on the unique needs of the specific mandala of people and energies that is constellated in response to this invitation.

Food Sadhana

We want you to know deep in your bones what it feels like to be nourished and provided for, and so We are going to feed you like you have never been fed before.

Many mystics and seekers ask themselves after years of wild experiences, "Yeah, but what's the point?" We have found meaning, purpose and happiness in the pursuit of serving Goddess by embodying Her. We have found that in many shamanic traditions the practitioners die young, the energies they work with exact a great toll on the body. Inspired by Director Erin Rivera Merriman's personal healing journey, our Food Sadhana aims to enculturate an evolutionary approach to the role of Healer/Priestess/Practitioner, and we will have no martyrs for the Goddess on our team. Goddess desires that we be well and serve in joy, and on the level we desire to play on, radical self care and commitment to nourishing yourself and providing for your own very specific needs as a Priestess/Practitioner is of primary importance. Being in right relationship to our food then becomes our primary practice. More than just providing our Priestess/Practitioners with nourishing meals, we are passionate about sharing our best practices in the kitchen that create the solid foundation on which our local mystical community rests. ln addition to receiving 3 meals a day of locally sourced ancestral foods prepared on site by lead kitchen witch Centehua Sage, we will have daily mini lessons on the medicinal properties of each meal and how they relate to the seasons, Goddesses, themes, and other energies of each in person training module. More than nourishing our bodies we will heal and evolve our relationship to food and bring it into the realm of magical practice, alchemy, and Food Sadhana (committed daily practice that creates the support/foundation for your spiritual life.) Some may simply enjoy the exquisite amount of care, creativity and love we have woven into the menu. Others through our time together may find their path in the Tantra of Food (Food as a pathway to Liberation complete unto itself.) In all cases, we promise a special opportunity to look deeply at and evolve our relationship to nourishment over the course of our time together.

SAMPLE MENU For Module 2

Friday Dinner:

Bone Broth Medicine

Lemon Fennel Salad With Kefir Dressings

Vegetable Tian

Pork Burgers With Fermented Peach Chutney

Coconut Butter Bread

Spiced Cacao Truffles

Tulsi Damiana, Vanilla Infusion

Food is medicine as well as spiritual nourishment. This meal is inspired by the Anahata chakra, the radiant loving compassion that fuels what we do and how we do it. Our pastured chicken bone broth is infused with Astragalus and Reishi mushroom and sourced locally from our friends at Primal Pastures. Astragalus is an adaptogen herb that helps reduce cortisol (the stress hormone) thus calming the nervous system. Reishi has anti-inflammatory, immuno-modulating and blood pressure balancing compounds, promoting a healthy heart and regulating hormones. The nutritional alchemy in this broth facilitates a relaxed sense of well being, as we tune into the grounding qualities of animal fats and center in our hearts with the aid of our plant and fungi allies. Balancing animal fats and proteins with the textures and colors of our summer vegetables. Damiana infusion takes us deeper into our senses centering around our womb, activating the sacral chakra, creativity and sensual intelligence.

Meat: (Pork for Burgers) Raised with love by Connor Jones from Ojai Permaculture- East End Eden.(Click Here to learn more about our lifelong exploration of the complex, important subject of what constitutes ethical animal consumption and right relationship to food)

 About Lead kitchen witch

Centehua Sage

Centehua is a movement alchemist, a farmer, herbalist and postpartum doula. She is inspired by the rhythms in nature and their connection to women's cycles. Born and raised in Mexico City, daughter of a performing artist and a writer, Centehua's early impressions were filled with music, dance and the vibrant flavours of the culture.  Centehua was deeply influenced by her nanny, an indigenous woman who cooked for the family and practiced herbalism. Motherhood deepened Centehua's journey towards healing arts and connection to the Earth. She resides with her partner and daughter on a farm in San Diego, CA, where she is learning how to create a regenerative lifestyle that is honoring to the land and the people.  As a postpartum doula, Centehua focuses on nutrition and the role of plant medicines to assist the healing process. She has explored various culinary disciplines drawing inspiration from raw foods to Ayurvedic alchemy.  Guided by the seasons, she carefully crafts menus that respect the land and farmers. Centehua feels that feeding people is a great privilege, not only for health reasons but as an opportunity to help everyone connect to the environment through earth's medicines.

Centehua is the creator of Lunar Rhythm, a women's sacred dance circle that meets twice each month. She also caters retreats throughout Southern California and hosts garden and cooking classes.

Plant Sadhanas

Throughout the year, we will be working regularly with an intentional sequence of medicines that will support us in engaging in a multisensory, multidimensional collaboration with Plant companions that assist us in connecting in a deeper way with the subjects covered in the course work. We will move through meditations and assignments with each medicine that are designed to facilitate liberation through a return to our natural state of interconnectedness. This page is your portal to explore the witches, wizards, and other magical beings who's paths and practices have led them to be able to create personal relationships with the plants that have yielded the uniquely potent medicines they provide for our apprentices.

About Dan: Dan De Lion is an Earth Herbalist, Forager, Musician, and Teacher dedicated to working with Nature to further the healing of the planet and the soul.  He teaches through Return to Nature, providing classes, lectures, and seminars on wild food foraging, mushroom identification, herbal medicine making, as well as primitive and survival skills with a focus on wild foods and forest medicines. He also incorporates the philosophies of yoga, alchemy, meditation, and mysticism into his classes, lectures, and seminars and brings a deep rooted indigenous medicine perspective of practicing intuition with plants, in a systematic and grounded way.

About Reishi: "Hey friends of the forest, we offer to you our wildcrafted Reishi double extracted tincture, decanted on the Equinox, available in our Return to Nature apothecary. Each aspect of this medicine making process was done with intent and prayer in heart, from keeping sure to not over harvest the mushrooms, to making medicine aligned with planetary forces, and meditations on the Reishi's biological activities."

Reishi has been clinically shown as potent immunomodulator and through the ancient traditions of traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, it has been seen as a deep, tissue-nourishing mushroom which helps benefit autoimmunity, depressed immune function, and detoxifies pathways by cleansing blood, nourishing the liver, and reducing inflammation.

We use organic alcohol, and spring or deep well water from my favorite drinking sources, and I wildcrafted each of these beautiful mushrooms.
